Meet YOTH Yarns

This Sunday, September 27, from 2–4 pm, we will be hosting a trunk show from the kind folks at YOTH yarns. This will be YOTH’s first time at Knit Purl, and we couldn’t be more excited!

YOTH, short for “Yarn on the House,” is a family business from Woodinville, Washington. They’ve only been around for two years, and have already gained quite a following in the knitting world. It’s no wonder why—their yarn, a buttery soft merino/cashmere/nylon base, is dyed in beautiful semi-solids that dazzle the eye.

The squishy yarn base comes in two weights: Little Brother, a fingering weight, and Big Sister, a DK weight.

Their semi-solid colorways all have food or plant-related names, and rightly so—they really do look good enough to eat! A look through their website shows the skeins photographed next to pictures of tantalizing and delicious foods, with names like Cracked Pepper, Sea Salt, Avocado, and Blueberry.

YOTH is famous for their colorful sets of yarn on a stick called “puppies,” which are one-of-a-kind and only available at trunk shows. The puppies contain balls of four different colors that are arranged in a gradient. It’s quite a beautiful sight to see them all together.

YOTH yarn isn’t available to purchase anywhere in Oregon yet, so attending this trunk show might be your only chance to see their beautiful yarn in person! If you can’t come to our trunk show, or don’t live in Portland, you can check out their site here to see where they’ll be next. You can also purchase yarn through their website at yothyarns.com.

See you at the trunk show, and make sure you bring home a puppy or two!

just a rainbow of projects

Or, more accurately, rainbow-colored projects. To begin with, I apologize for the blurry quality of the following photos. I was trying out the smaller store camera, with less luck than expected. On the right, I just wanted to let all y’all in Blogland know that we do have the NEW AlterKNITS Felt in stock and […]

Yarn evolution. felting sisters, and a glimpse of Enid

Going in reverse, just because widdershins is so much fun, let’s introduce you to our newest employee at the Good Ol’ Salt Mines Yarn House of Knit Purl: Enid. I barely had to corner her or anything. What a refreshing change. Enid says “hi”. She spins and knits, so expect to see her getting into […]

There is Nothin’ Like a Dane

Ninja, my officemate keeps running his mouth in a pseudo Schwarzenegger imitation, saying “Fana Hulk-enburg! Fana Hulk-enburg!”. Some may notice his error. (Hanne Falkenberg is Danish while Schwarzenegger is Austrian.) Still it’s mildly amusing because he looks more Hanne than Arnold. We love him nevertheless. The arrival of Hanne Falkenberg trunk show garments precipitated this […]
