Ten Reasons To Love October
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

You might have wondered why we didn't send out a Newsletter last Friday. Well, it turns out LYS employees are not immune to the flu as we would like, in spite of the strengthening support we get daily by being surrounded by all this yarn.

Which is exactly why the Newsletter didn't go out last Friday, and why our previously planned "Ten Reasons To Love October" Sale was also delayed by a week.

Now that we're all vertical again (and completely non-contagious, never fear!), we're proceeding with our original plan. The sale will now start today, October 23rd, and end on November 8th. And since we're certain that our customers are much more interested in yarn than our collective health, we're sure that you'll appreciate the sale even though it was delayed.

Be sure to check out our Specials page for 15% off on ten of our most popular brands:

Not sure what to make? This issue's "Treat Yourself" has been specially compiled to use yarns from each of these brands. And, if you're in the mood for fashion advice, don't miss the article "A Look At Fall Fashion", where we review the ten hot colors this season and how to match them with handknits.

A Look At Fall Fashion
STAYIN' CHIC THIS AUTUMN

Knit Purl blogfans will know that Lindsay, our totally chic web fulfillment specialist, has been writing a weekly column entitled "Fashionknitsta Thursdays".

Lindsay and our team of catwalk addicts spend all week hunting down hot new looks and finding matching knitting patterns from around the world.

If you haven't been keeping up with the blog, be sure to check out her most recent post, which includes a look into Portland Fashion Week (shown left) and felted home accents.

Maybe you're not interested in replicating runway looks; but, rather, with adding coordinating garments and accessories to ready-made pieces. Just for you, we've taken the Pantone Fashion Color Report Fall 2009 and hand-selected yarns that offer hues that are identical matches to the top ten colors on the scene this season.

American Beauty
A true red, this crimson is a perennial favorite, like the intensely blue-red Kauni Solid W-MM2.
Purple Heart
Saturated violet, this bright purple glows in the same way as Silk Rhapsody in color #935.
Honey Yellow
Rich, dark burnished gold that can be used as either a neutral or a bold, like Merino 3 in Bronze.
Iron
A warm grey with pink undertones is the perfect coordinate that is matched by the glossy Bomuld #43.
Burnt Sienna
Rusty orange, this color is beautiful either as an accent or a solitary tone, like Merino Worsted in Pagoda.
Nomad
Dark khaki with olive undertones, this coordinate-with-everything neutral is similar to ShibuiKnits Sock in Sand.
Rapture Rose
A dusky pink, just like an antique rose, is ideal for most skin tones like A-33 Merino Wool in the color #38.
Warm Olive
Brilliant yellow-green, this cheerful color will add some life to your wardrobe this fall, like Worsted Merino Lettuce.
Majolica Blue
Cold, dark blue like the icy waters of the North Atlantic, this fall-into-winter essential is matched by Wool 1 in color #101.
Crème Brûlèe
Antique white, this is a soft and flattering neutral for any skin tone, like Tsumugi Silk in color #12.

NEW COLORS OF GLAZED SOCK

Bright, cheery colors are just what knitters need when the nights get longer and the sky turns grey. Lucky for us, five new colors of Madelinetosh Glazed Sock have arrived in the store!

Handdyed in blazing, brilliant hues, like the hot pink Pop Rocks or neon orange Citrus, these new shades will brighten any knitter's day. But, because bright isn't always better for everyone, we made sure to order the beautifully subdued Ginger (shown above) and soothingly calm Logwood, as well as more of everyone's favorites.

Delightfully soft and machine washable, Glazed Sock is a wonderful yarn for all types of projects that require beauty and durability.

Just One More Skein
THE PERFECT STASH-BUSTER

At long last, with the release of Leigh Radford's One More Skein, we have the answer to the eternal question, "But what if I have two skeins?"

It's a sad fact accepted by many knitters that, while there are many books devoted to one skein projects (including Leigh's original One Skein), there aren't really any texts centered around to those hard to find more-than-one, less-than-three designs.

No longer! Now knitters have options for those twin balls of yarn they bought, because two is always better than one, that aren't identical projects. With thirty patterns, divided into four projects types that range from adult to baby to bags to home decor, there's several somethings for everyone in this book.

Clearly another knitting break-through, One More Skein promises to be just as important an addition to knitting libraries as its predecessor.

Even better, we have four new colors in ArtYarns popular line, Cashmere Sock. Give your feet a reason to dance with a pair of socks made with this slightly decadent, but entirely practical, yarn... they'll thank you!
