EXPAND YOUR PALETTE

Just arrived in the store are a brilliant assortment of new springy colors in old faves from Habu Textiles. From brilliant Key Lime to glorious peacock blue, these new hues will make you sit up and pay attention.

XS-55 Linen Lace

As cool and refreshing as a margarita, the color Tea Green gives linen lace a new zest. The same lace-weight linen yarn we've come to adore (so smooth and crisp!), this may just be love at first sight. Make a fun and flirty sleeveless tunic or more respectable cardigan and stay cool (both literally and figuratively) this summer.

A-20/21 Silk/ Stainless Steel

A perennial source of fascination for knitters and nonknitters alike, this lace-weight yarn actually contains more than 30% stainless steel. Originally released in dark and/ or neutral colors, this line has recently expanded to include new shades that range from shocking teal to a rich and coppery orange.

N-76B 2mm Linen Paper

Admittedly, this is a new fave, but Habu Textiles has just released two more colors of 2mm Linen Paper. 100% linen, this 'yarn' is actually a part of the long history of paper clothing, called Kamiko, in Japan. Light and cool, this slightly crunchy 'yarn' knits up with sharp stitch definition at a fingering gauge.

We've received several large shipments from Habu Textiles this week, including many more new additions to other lines than we have space to share. Browse our wide selection of Habu Textiles yarns and you might just find something special!

AN INCOMPARABLE CREW

Well, you can, come September. Figuratively speaking, though, it's going to be quite difficult to top the combination of talents we've collected for the 2010 Knit Purl Sock Club. With designers from around the world, many of whom are household names globally, even we can't believe our luck. As promised, we're going to give you an inside look at the design talent who will be stealing the show this September:

  • Author of the best-selling German books, Socken Aus Aller Welt and Socken rund ums Jar, Stephanie van der Linden probably doesn't need much of an introduction for our newsletter readers. Suffice it to say, we are really, really excited she agreed to participate in our Sock Club for another year.
  • Although her web handle, Grumperina may make you pause, you can't deny this Bostonian designer's talent. An intrepid knitter, Grumperina was one of the first knit-blogger-cum-designers on the scene more than five years ago. Her most popular pattern, Jaywalker, has been knit by over 7,000 knitters on ravelry.
  • A native of the Netherlands, Yarnissima is a ravelry superstar because of her eye for detail and unique (personal) sock construction. Her most popular pattern, Firestarter, has been made by over 1,000 knitters worldwide.
  • Voted one of Interweave Knit's Readers Choice Designers, Kristin Spurkland is a Portland resident and the author of the best-selling book The Knitting Man(ual). Her designs feature creative use of texture, often drawn from her Nordic heritage.
  • Wendy Johnson, author of the best-selling books Socks from the Toe-Up and Toe-Up Socks for Every Body is a master of thrilling stitch patterns. Her blog, Wendy Knits keeps over 16,000 knitters entertained with daily updates on Lucy, her rescued (and extremely photogenic) kitty.
  • Another Portlander, Heather Saal may be a bit of a mystery to our readers. Rest assured her intricate and eye-catching designs made us stop and stare. Devoted to cables and lace, expect to see something delightfully twisted from her this year.

Even if you're not a sock knitter, you have to admit that the ingredients for the 2010 Sock Club are incredible. With the identities of six fantastic hand-dyers yet to be revealed, we think you'll be impressed with the final line-up. Of course, if you're like-minded and can't wait for September to get here, now's the time to sign up. Choose from three memberships and three payment options (find your own perfect plan) and see what we have in store.

BETTER THAN BLING

Make a statement the next time you wrap up in your favorite hand-knit shawl or sweater with one of Jul's classy new shawl pins. Manufactured by a co-op in Indonesia, these beauties will tell everyone that you have style... and a heart.

Jul Naturals Shawl Pin: Cinnamon

Now here's a new take on aromatherapy! Delicate slivers of cinnamon stick have been carefully inlaid in a mango wood circle. The result is a lovely pattern that looks and smells delicious (no joke!). Paired with a rosewood stick, this sweet shawl pin will add flavor to any outfit.

Jul Naturals Shawl Pin: Coconut

Modern craquelure, the captivating visual texture in this pin comes from flattening (and cracking) coconut shells to inlay over mango wood. Also paired with a rosewood stick, we bet this quirky shawl pin will soon become a favorite.

White Bronze Moire Shawl Pin

Hand-cast with white bronze, this intricate pin only looks delicate. With a ripple pattern that resembles waves on a pond, the design is elegance personified. Paired with a rosewood stick, it can be dressed up or down.

Granite Square Shawl Pin

An understated beauty, this stone square will make you pause and admire it's Zen-like style. Simple and unadorned, it is paired with a rosewood stick with an ebony cap. Wear it with your favorite thick shawl and wait for the compliments to roll in.
