Whether you're excited or not about long, hot summer days, this July is looking to be a good month to sit and sip lemonade in the shade. A Knit Purl tradition, our annual Month of Lace gives knitters the chance to dispense with worsted weight wool in lieu of light and airy lace weight blends.
Join us this July as we temporarily set aside cables, Fair Isle, and thick and cushy knits for sheer and sensual gossamer. Even if you're not a lace knitter, summer is the perfect time to expand your skill set (and tastes) to include one of the most ancient branches of knitting.
Still not convinced? Lace is not just for finicky and fussy knitters. In fact, Lace Knitters is the largest group on ravelry, with other 11,000 members! Shared projects range from intricate Shetland shawls to modern garments worthy of the runway.

A project like Ishbel, or Evelyn Clark's Cocoon Lace Scarf, is great for knitters unfamiliar with reading charts or yarning over. Even better, either pattern can be knit with one skein of yarn and will weigh less than 4 ounces when completed! How's that for keeping your lap wool-free this summer?
