Part of the beauty of Skif is their approachability - their runway designs, while undeniably stylish, can fit into the average knitter's wardrobe without tweaking.
Shown above is the Elizabeth dress at Fashion Week - light and airy, this short dress that can worn alone or layered over trousers for that à la Portland look.

Just arrived, the Elizabeth pattern is an example of how easily Skif designs can be converted to patterns for hand-knitters. Simple and elegant, Elizabeth will coordinate with almost any look or personal style.
Perfect for steamy weather this summer, this flirty little number will keep you cool (both literally and figuratively) when knit with linen or cotton yarns.
Mix and match a couple of fine-gauge Habu Textiles or Isager Knit yarns for that earthy look Skif favors, or try out Skif's new yarn for a loose and comfortable piece you won't want to take off all summer. | |
Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, Skif International is a rare breed in the fashion world. Devoted to natural fibers and comfort, in addition to style, their aesthetic strikes a cord with many. After branching out to knitting patterns based off of their runway designs two years ago, they are becoming a household name with knitters of all types.
When we started our Skif KAL last year, we had no idea how many knitters would embrace the opportunity. Now, with over 80 members and 10 patterns to choose from, knitters everywhere are taking up the challenge - to view each garment as a journey that should be appreciated en route, rather than to anticipate the destination.
With an almost Zen-like tranquility, Skif encourages us to sit back and repose while we knit and, above all, enjoy the experience. According to Skif philosophy, there are no mistakes - only points of interest and unique design elements.
Ideal for travel or knitting in company, the simplicity of Skif designs lends itself well to a variety of situations. Bring your WIP on the plane to make the flight more pleasant, or place yourself in a garden and soak up sun as you stitch away. Moreover, the newest release from Skif headquarters is a cotton yarn intended to make knitting their designs all the more easy.

100% cotton, this woven tape provides crisp stitch definition and a loose, gauzy fabric. Knit alone, it creates a sheer and stretchy material that will layer well throughout the year. When knit with one or two lace-weight Habu Textiles or Isager Knit yarns, the fabric takes on that heathered and tweedy look we associate with Skif designs.
Join us during our Skif Cast On Party and Yarn Sampling, on April 7th, to find your own path or simply to start your journey in good company. We will also assemble Skif It Yarn Sampling Packets for knitters who live afar, so they don't miss out on the fun.
Whatever you choose - to knit with one yarn or dozens, adapt your Skif
pattern or knit it exactingly - we think you'll find that Skif
International designs are a welcome change from what we've come
to expect from high fashion.
